Born in 1968 in Tarnow, Poland. Medical study at the Silesian Medical Academy, 1987-1993. Doctor of medical sciences (1995), specialist dermatologist (1999), specialist allergist (2010). Certificate in Aesthetic Medicine (Postgraduate School of Aesthetic Medicine, Polish Medical Society 2013). Habilitation (state-certified permanent qualification for professor posts) in 2003. Permanent professorship awarded in 2017. Author or co-author of more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and more than 50 scientific monographs and textbooks. Listed in the directory of world's top scientists (Elsevier 2021, 2022, 2023).

Current posts: Professor and Head of the Department of Experimental Dermatology and Cosmetology, Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. • Co-founder and director of development at the Institute of Dermatology in Krakow. • Dermatology & Allergy Consultant, private practice 'dermatolog.eu', Krakow. • Founder and owner of the laboratory Sensimun (formerly: Celimun), Krakow.

Research interests: Diseases from the spectrum of eczema & dermatitis • Patch tests & photopatch tests • In vivo and in vitro diagnosis of allergy • Diseases from the spectrum of urticaria • Cutaneous adverse reactions to cosmetics and drugs • Mechanisms of contact hypersensitivity, photoallergy & phototoxicity.

Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the first Polish medical online journal "GALEN" (founded 1996), as well as scientific journals "Estetologia Medyczna i Kosmetologia" (Medical Esthetology and Cosmetology) and "Dermatopedia". Co-founder, past editor and present member of advisory board to the Annals of Agricultural and Environmental Medicine, member of the scientific advisory board of the journals Allergologie, the Journal of Investigational Allergology and Clinical Immunology, The Open Allergy Journal, Alergoprofil, ISRN Public Health, and Advances in Dermatology and Allergology. Member of the Local Organizing Committee at the XXVIII Congress of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (Warsaw, 6-10 June 2009), president of the Local Organising Committee of the EAACI Allergy School "Dermatitis&Eczema" (Krakow 18-21 August 2011), president of the Local Organising Committee of the EAACI Skin Allergy Meeting (Krakow 18-20 September 2014). Member of Scientific Committees at the 10th Congress of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis (Strasbourg, 15-18 September 2010), and 11th Congress of the European Society of Contact Dermatitis (Malmö, 13-16 June 2012). Dermatology and allergology rater for the McMaster Online Rating of Evidence (MORE), PIER, bmjupdates+, and the Evidence-Based Journals.

Co-ordinator and/or participant in 10 research programmes: stategic governmental programmes, national grants, institutional grants, research fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Office (DAAD), Marie Curie Individual Fellowship (European Commission's 5th Framework Programme) and Marie Curie European Reintegration Grant (6th Framework Programme). Training abroad: Bochum (Germany), Harpenden (England), Zurich (Switzerland), Aachen (Germany), Kuopio (Finland), Amsterdam (the Netherlands).

International awards: Howard I. Maibach Award (American Society of Contact Dermatitis, 2003), EAACI Exchange Research Fellowship Award (European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, 2001), Albert M. Kligman Fellowship (Society for Investigative Dermatology, 2001).

National awards: President's Award of the Polish Farmers' Insurance Institution (2003), Team Award of the Institute of Agricultural Medicine, Lublin (1999), Prof. Mieczyslaw Obtulowicz Honorary Diploma (Polish Allergology Society, 1997), Fellowship of the Polish Science Foundation (1996), Silver Medal "Primus Inter Pares" (1991), Rector's Awards (Silesian Medical Academy, 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991).
